In my spare time, I’m an avid fan of traditional Chinese culture. I’m broadly interested in: 1) philosophical works on Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism (儒釋道); 2) divination and fortune-telling techniques from ancient China (易經數術); 3) the Guqin (古琴), a traditional Chinese musical instrument; 4) Chinese calligraphy (書法).

Here are some of my other hobbies: guitar, pool, skiing, city walk, and learning languages or dialects on Duolingo (currently Spanish and Cantonese; please add me @hmdliu if you are an enthusiast as well). Yes, I know that is a lot of hobbies, and I’m at a beginner level in most of them. Just don’t get hung up on it and always have fun!

Aiming for better work-life balance, I did intensive daily activity logging and visualization from 2020 to 2022. Now, I’ve shifted to a lighter approach. :p
